Papagena is an outstanding a cappella female vocal group. No props, microphones or gimmicks, just five stunning voices presenting a musical cocktail of folk, medieval, classical and contemporary music from around the world.
From the chant of Hildegard of Bingen to the hoovering fantasia of Stephen Hatfield, from Purcell to Katy Perry, their work explores the wealth of music written specifically for female voices, juxtaposing pieces in intriguing new ways.
Lizzie Drury, Suzie Purkis, Abbi Temple, Sarah Tenant-Flowers and Suzzie Vango are all classically trained musicians who have performed with some of the UK’s leading vocal groups. With enviable pitching, impeccable diction and a real sense of fun, Papagena have been described as a young female Hilliard Ensemble. Not to be missed!
