Lighting the Jubilee Beacon
The start of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations We hope everyone will join in to celebrate this unique occasion in British history marking seven decades of the Queen’s reign, with this traditional beacon lighting ceremony. The Goring and Streatley Concert Band and a choir will lead the singing in a special event, during which the Jubilee Beacon will be lit, we hope, at the top of the tower of St Thomas’ Church. To coincide with the lighting of Jubilee Beacons throughout the country and the Commonwealth, choirs will be singing ’Song for the Commonwealth’, written specially for this night. The song will be sung at exactly 9.45pm local time, in whichever country people are in on 2nd June 2022. FREE - no ticket required |

Jubilee Praise Family Service
Everyone is encouraged to join this interdenominational Songs of Praise family thanksgiving service conducted by ministers from all three local churches, which marks the start of the Jubilee celebrations day in Goring and Streatley. Hymn & song sheets will be available at the entrance and the Goring and Streatley Concert Band and a choir will lead the singing. The service will end promptly at 12.15pm to enable time for the families who need to cross the bridge to Streatley, before the road is closed at 12.30pm, in preparation for the Jubilee Street Party to be set up. FREE - no ticket required |

Goring and Streatley’s Big Jubilee Lunch and Street Party
This will be a unique event and fun for everyone - and possibly put Goring and Streatley in the Guinness Book of World Records! Following the Jubilee Praise family service, a 1 km-long Street Party and Jubilee Lunch will start, and the two High Streets and the river bridge will be closed to traffic at 12.30pm until 6.00pm. Over 500 trestle tables will be set out in a continuous line from the railway bridge in Goring to Streatley traffic lights, in preparation for what may be the longest Jubilee Street Party in the country. We will join the two villages and straddle two counties, as we did in 2012 during our Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. This year our celebrations will be even better and a sunny day has been ordered! Loud speakers will stretch the whole kilometre of the street party, allowing revellers to enjoy music, singing and announcements. There will be lots of fun for the whole family with competitions and prizes - and some surprises! Bring your lunch, tablecloth, decorations and chair – and come decked out for the occasion! |

How to reserve your Big Jubilee Lunch and Street Party table
A few seats have become available for the Street Party. If you would like to join us, please complete the registration form as soon as possible and your seats will either be confirmed, or if they have been taken by the time you book, you will be added to the waiting list to be notified in case of further cancellations. Here is the link for the registration form.
Please note that table bookings can only be made by a Goring or Streatley resident or business owner, but your group may include people who do not live, or own a business, in either Goring or Streatley. Tables will be arranged in blocks of five and each block will seat a maximum of 32 people (15 on either side and one at each end). Tables will be provided, but everyone will need to bring their own chairs (and their own lunch!).
