The GAP Festival Family Day returns on Saturday, 13th June, with the theme “The Wonders of the Natural World” to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of the natural world.

This year, we are inviting young people from across the local area to take part in the Children’s Nature Photography Competition in collaboration with photographer Simon Booker and Beale Park.

From wildflowers and otters along the Thames Path to insects and birds in the garden, budding young photographers are encouraged to step outside, look closely, and frame the world as they see it.

Competition categories

Whether capturing close-up moments, exploring wildlife, or wide landscapes, our judges are looking for photos that tell a story of nature.

The competition is divided into three age groups:

  • Little Explorers: Ages 5-7

  • Wild Wonders: Ages 8-11

  • Nature Through My Lens: Ages 12-14

There’s no need for professional equipment - whether using a camera, tablet, or smartphone, it’s about noticing something special and capturing it. If using a phone camera, it is recommended to take photographs in HD with 24/48MP to allow for printing.
