"Onward! The GAP will OPEN again - for sure"
This is the message of encouragement our patron Gyles Brandreth has sent us in these difficult times. We concur and will bring the Festival back when we can. On his website, Gyles has some useful and amusing suggestions to get us through the current situation. As an alternative to singing “Happy Birthday” twice, he has chosen some lovely poems that take 20 seconds to read or recite while washing our hands. You will find one of them below. There are lots of other fun things on his site. Go to his BLOG page on www.gylesbrandreth.net |
‘Leisure’ by William Henry Davies (1871-1940) |
What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty's glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. |
