Pen and Wash Sketching

This workshop will show you how to sketch buildings in the landscape with a pen and wash, with artist Jonathan Newey as your tutor. During the afternoon you will be shown how to sketch skies, trees and buildings in the landscape using techniques such as wet in wet, lifting and blotting, how to draw perspective and how to sketch with the pen in a loose and lively way. By the end of the afternoon you will have produced at least one sketch.

Participants will need to bring their own materials but a detailed guide will be supplied after booking takes place.

Tickets are non-refundable. A waiting list may be available once this event is sold out.

Filming and photography will likely take place at this event. This will be used to showcase the 2024 GAP Festival both online and in printed articles. Images and footage will also be used to help future festival promotions. Please let the event marshals on the day know if you do not wish to be captured.

This year’s Festival will be cashless, only contactless card payments will be available for any refreshments.
