Children's Film Festival entries due soon

Create a short film for a chance to win amazing prizes

Posted on January 01, 2024

We are very pleased to announce the return of our Children’s Film Festival. The GAP Festival is offering the chance once again for local children in Oxfordshire and Berkshire to get digitally creative and take part in our short film competition. The chosen shortlisted films will be screened and the winners announced at a red carpet event on Sunday 9 June, as part of The GAP Festival.

All children (primary, secondary and sixth form) within Oxfordshire and Berkshire are invited to get creative with filming and producing their own short films. You can enter as an individual filmmaker or join up with friends and enter a film produced together.

Films can be on any subject matter, but content must be suitable for the respective categories eg under 12s or 18s. This time judges are looking for strong storytelling!

There are three categories for entries

  • Best Short Film - Under 12 (UK Residents of Oxfordshire & Berkshire only)
  • Best Short Film - Under 18 (UK Residents of Oxfordshire & Berkshire only)
  • Best Short Film - Under 18 (Worldwide entries)

Plus, special awards for ‘Emerging Filmmaker’ and ‘Children’s Jury’.  If you reside in Berkshire or Oxfordshire you can enter your film into both the local Under 12/18, as well as the Worldwide category.

Entries are free before the regular submission deadline of 9th April, and shortlisted films will be announced on 14th May. Not forgetting the winning entries will receive an amazing prize to further their interest in filmmaking!
